World of Warcraft Fishing Guide

If you have ever fished in real life, you will appreciate the tranquillity and fulfilment from the beautiful scenery, the water flowing, the joys when you get your first catch. World of Warcraft is no different. It offers you a secondary skill in which your character can go fishing. In this World of Warcraft Fishing Guide, I will teach you the skills of fishing which should take you approximately 15 hours to complete. There are many reasons to fish!

For instance:

- You can socialise whilst fishing
- Fishing makes you a better cook
- You can brag to your fellow mates who has the biggest fish
- Eating fish can restore your health
- You can scare away the girls from your fishy smells when you want peace

Place to start
You will find many fishing trainers in the game. Venturing to different towns will almost definitely have a fishing trainer there. After you have trained, you can fish in nearly any pond, lake, ocean or river. Try aim to get your fishing skills up as this will allow you to go to more restricted areas in higher level zones.

You have a skill rate in fishing which is calculated based upon the number of successful catches you make. Here's a rough equation in how skills work

(current unmodified fishing level - 25) / 25 = # of fish needed to level, assuming a minimum of fish per catch.

Expert Fishing
Once you have purchased a unique special book called 'Expert Fishing, The Bass and You' from Stranglethorn Vale, in the town of Booty Bay, you can start on Expert fishing. Have some patience finding Old Man Hemming as this city is like a small twisted maze. Follow these instructions :- Jump into the water to the wooden ramp that comes off the dock. Run up the ramp, turn right, and you'll see the old man sitting on the doorway.

Artisan Fishing

You can start on Artisan fishing on completion of 2 quests. You also must be at level 40 and maxed out your fishing skill of 225 to get this quest.

NOTE: There is a known bug that will keep you from skilling up after receiving Artisan Fishing if you leave the area. After finishing the Artisan Fishing quest, be sure to fish your skill up to 226 before leaving Nat Pagle.

Master Fishing

Once you have purchased special book called, 'Master Fishing The Art of Angling', you can start on Master Fishing. The book is sold for 5 gold in Zangarmarsh by Juno Dufrain, who is SW of Cenarion Refuge.

Horde Instructions
1. Start at Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore.
2. Converse to Harn Longcast and buy Billiant Smallfish and Longjaw Mud Snapper recipes.
3. Start fishing at Stonebull Lake.
4. Equip your rod, next apply the shiny bauble lure to it (makes catching fish a lot easier!)
5. Spend about 40 minutes catching 60 Brilliant Smallfish.
6. By this time you should have also caught about 30 Longjaw Mud Snappers. When you have 60 of them, cook them. You can go back to Harn Longcast and use the fire by him, or build your own.
7. Cook Brilliant Smallfish
8. At level 50, begin cooking Longjaw Mud Snappers
9. Go and catch Longjaw Mud Snappers in the pond in Orgrimmar. It's better for you to go there than stay where you are now as the drop rate is better in Orgrimmar.
10. Somewhere between levels 50 and 70 learn journeyman cooking and fishing.
11. In order to raise your cooking up to 100, catch at least 30 Longjaw Mud Snappers.
12. Go to Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad. See Derak Nightfall and purchase Bristle Whisker Catfish recipe.
13. You will requre about 80 to 100 of these to get your cooking level up to 175.
14. Between levels 125 and 150, go to Shadowprey Village in Desolace and purchae Expert Cookbook.
15. Go to Booty Bay and buy a book for your fishing level. Speak to old man heming and purchase his book Expert Fishing.
16. When you reach 175 cooking, go to Shadowprey Village in Desolace.
17. Speak to Wulan and purchase Mithril Head Trout recipe and begin fishing on the pier there.
18. Get about 60 of these in order to raise your cooking up to level 225.
By the time you have completed the above 18 steps, you should have levelled up your fishing and cooking to 225. This is as far as you can go if you have not reached level 35 yet. If you are on levels 35 or above, then you will have 2 quests to compelte before you can continue.
